V-Wedge Lift / Transfer Assembly
The concept drawing shows a 2 axis actuator used to provide vertical travel and a lateral transfer for transferring tooling and engineering from one assembly tool to another. The vertical travel was accomplished using a unique method of actuation. A matched pair of Danaher precision Ballscrews, with RH and LH leads resulted in a linear wedge design that provided vertical lift. This gave the customer a maximum amount of vertical travel in a very restricted working envelope. These units were used in pairs and were removable from the tool when the transfer was completed. . The 4-axis synchronization of actuation was accomplished by taking advantage of a feature similar to electronic gearing, while using Danaher AKM servos and S200 drives. The sequence of operation and control logic required an Aromat PLC. The operational interface utilized an Aromat GT-30 touch screen to provide easy to operate, customized screens for safe lift and transfer of the tool. Turk sensors were used for over travel protection and part presence. Minarik Corporation provided this customer the linear actuators, electrical enclosure, operator interface, and programming. Transfer carts were also provided by Minarik to transport and store the sliders and enclosure while not in use.
